Because I have experienced SO much in the past few days, I thought it best to share my journey through my photographs. Of course, I have hundreds of photos and it was very difficult to narrow it down! I hope these pictures give you just a small taste of what it is like in the beautiful country of Georgia (and FYI, Georgians pronounce it George-E-Ya)
Students: Based on this slideshow, what do you imagine Georgia to be like (culture, people, food, history, etc.?)
I enjoyed looking at all of there pictures, it seems really amazing there. And I especially liked the pictures of the castles and the monastery.

ReplyDeleteI thought the castle was very cool and were you in a plane or something while you were looking at it. And I can not beleive that you went through tunnels in a mountain it does look very cool but I would not never do that.

I enjoyed looking at the castle and the pictures of the area around you. Just the atmosphere looks amazing and everything looks ancient and original. The society looks different than it does today and I enjoy looking at a different life style and seeing the differences between there environment that they live in and the environment we live in.

I think it is interesting how you are living with another family. Usually in most places there would be a hotel that people would stay in. This is a different culture though and I think its very creative how your living there.

Its interesting how you went on a moutain. That looked very high and it looked scary. It looks like there are a lot of moutains up there and it looks interesting.

I think ts cool how your teaching other children. Do they speak diffrent languages. That would be cool if they do and you would have to commuicate with them

Matt, they speak Georgian, but they also learn English in all grades and Russian in middle and high school. Their English is pretty good. Even the little ones know basic words and greetings!
DeleteThe photos you are posting are very interesting and I wish that I could be immersed in the culture of this place like you are right now. One thing that I am curious about is: What types of things do you do with the children there?
ReplyDeleteGeorgia 10/11 B
We read and played games with the little kids. With the older kids, we did a photo/writing/video project which I will be posting soon :)
DeleteI think that this is more of a culture place because of all the old castles and church like places there. I also think that it is more of a place for food because of all of the amazing meals that they have there. I was also wondering if you were afraid of heights. On the slide when you were climbing the mountain, you said you were hyperventilating. I can't go feet in the air without freaking out. My fear of heights is really bad.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am afraid of heights, but I conquered my fear and did it. I am so glad I did!!
DeleteThe photos were really cool. I wish one day I could go to Georgia myself. How was the food there? And were the Georgians friendly?
ReplyDeleteThe food is so so good! Khachapuri and Khinkali are the two moat popular foods. The first is a dumpling and the second is a cheese filled bread. The Georgians are the friendliest and most generous people I have ever met.
DeleteEverything you post here is so interesting. The classes look really nice and concentrated. The Rabati Castle looks really nice also. I wouldn't blame you for hyperventilating I would too probably a lot worse though. Can't wait for you to come back.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are really interesting, Georgia seems like a really nice place to visit and the people seem friendly. I think that it would be really cool to visit one day. I hope you are enjoying your trip!

The slideshow is very cool an I think it is interesting that everything there is almost homemade and the food looks like it is from a different culture.

I think it's great that you got to meet students from Russia because they live a little differently than us and it seems interesting to learn about them.
ReplyDelete-Erica B P10-11B
Unfortunately, I haven't met anyone from Russia. Russia is the country to the north of Georgia.
DeleteI loved seeing the different pictures of the places you went in the slideshow. It looks a lot different from here and seems like it would be a lot of fun to see in person.

The people there seem very kind and happy to show you their lifestyle. Their history seems interesting and if I had to guess, I think that they were or still are ruled by a monarch. It seems like a very old country considering the medieval castles and such. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a good time! The buildings there are beautiful! The photos you took are amazing and it looks like an amazing place to visit! We miss you here and can't wait till you get back.

ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that the monks still are living in the caves. Your picture with one of them is great. He has such a kind face. Rabati castle looks fantastic. I'm terrified of heights so I would be completely hyperventilating right next to you! Welcome home... Loved reading about your trip. - Kimberly Kratz
